When you add a new event parameter that you want to use as a Custom Dimension or metrics then you have to usually wait for a day before it shows up in the list of event parameters.
However, you don't have to wait for the parameter to show up in the list.
To use a new event parameter, that you just added, in a custom dimension, you can simply type the name where it says "Select an event parameter" (see the image above).
This way you can bypass the waiting period and the Custom Dimension will start collecting the data right away.
No more waiting for a day or so to create your new custom dimension.

If you use Looker Studio (previously Google Data Studio) then you can start to use this custom dimension in your reports within hours of creating it.
This is the fastest way to use new event parameters in your reports.
